He also explains about his friendship with Peter Gent (the ex-Dallas Cowboys player and author of “North Dallas Forty”), compares an actor working within the “establishment” of the movie world with an athlete working within the “framework” of the NFL football establishment (“quasi ignorance”), the insensitive portrayal of athletes as “jocks” in the press (“They often make many athletes look like screwballs”) and the “exploitation of sex” in Gent’s book and in the motion picture in which he starred (“It’s all part of the business”).
